I nearly lost my sight in No10, hints Brown: Former Prime Minister announces he is to stand down as an MP in rare appearance with his young sons
Gordon Brown came close to losing his sight when he was in No 10, the former prime minister hinted last night.He made the admission in his Kirkcaldy constituency, as he confirmed he will not stand for re-election in May. Mr Brown said goodbye with his wife Sarah and young sons Fraser and John - as he did when leaving Downing Street in 2010.In a highly personal speech, he told of the pain the couple suffered when they lost their first child, Jennifer, shortly after her birth. He also revealed that problems with his eyesight in Downing Street were more serious than previously admitted. The former Labour leader suffered a serious rugby accident at the age of 16 which blinded him in one eye, and he required lengthy treatment to save the sight in the other.

Victoria wore a low-key black and white maxi skirt from her own eponymous collection, with a black jumper and a silver chain belt, while her husband opted for yet another smart suit. Last night the pair attended the London Evening Standard awards. They were joined, left to right, by Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, and Kate Moss. Hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, for the second year in a row, the awards are set to honour those who have greatly impacted the fashion industry.

Court grants PDP permission to declare Tambuwal's seat vacant

A Federal High court in Abuja today Dec. 1st gave PDP permission to apply for a mandatory order compelling either the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, to declare the Kebbe/Tambuwal seat being held by Hon Aminu Tambuwal vacant following his recent defection to APC from the PDP.
The PDP had dragged Tambuwal to court, asking the court to mandate him to declare his seat vacant and vacate his position as Speaker following his defect to the APC.
