Gayle shared an image on her Instagram page on Wednesday showing the OWN cable network honcho pushing her around in a wheelchair as the pair flashed smiles.
Gayle thanked the hospital staff and her son for showering her with attention during the treatment.
'Thank you nurse Cindy nurse Leslie favorite son will and.. diagnosis very bad sprain ankle that I twisted and fell heading to gym! No hike no treadmill anytime soon thanx dr Dave Nelson! He got jokes!'

Having just celebrated her milestone birthday days earlier on December 28 alongside her family at Oprah's Maui ranch, she seemed to be in good spirits despite the injury.
However moments before receiving the diagnosis, she was not sure about its severity.
Gayle shared a photo, likely smiling through the pain, as she is seated near her doctor and the Oscar-nominated The Color Purple actress who was looking on at a clipboard with intrigue.
'New Year's Eve at kula hospital! What is the issue?' she wrote in the caption.

But the party must still go on. At some point after midnight, the ladies were feeling more festive and celebrated the New Year with an intimate party.
Gayle wore a colorful sleeveless dress, added a slight touch of makeup and donned glowing '2015' glasses and a 'Happy New Year' hairpiece.
She was flanked by her daughter Kirby and son Will, who were all festively dressed for the occasion.

In another image, Gayle shared a photo of the entire group of her friends and family in glowing accessories - and it is Oprah who is seen at the center wearing a V-neck yellow sweater, top hat and glowing necklace.
'And as 2014 ends and 2015 begins everybody say yaaay! Here's to a good year at your house,' she captioned the photo that referenced the hostess.
Known for her lavish celebrations and attention to detail in planning parties, Oprah offered her guests a spectacular assortment of New Year's Eve desserts by her 5-star pastry chef Monti Frederic.

And revelers also enjoyed an artistic, sugary created that appeared to be in the shape of a swan and looked like glass.
'Chef Frederic monti working more magic in the kitchen@oprah 's Hawaii ranch last nite and yep this is all edible!' Gayle wrote of the photo posted to her social media account.
