The photo pays tribute Steven Spielberg's 1975 film Jaws, which sees a similar animatronic great white stick its head out of the water.
In another stunning shot by photographer Norman Jean Roy, Rihanna wears a white bathing suit as she swims upward towards the water's surface with a ferocious looking shark just feet away.
In a behind the scenes video, the Rude Boy hit maker shows off her underwater skills in an orange one-piece as she dives down the side of some rocks as another jagged-toothed fish lurks nearby.

Back on dry land Riri wears a glamourous gold jumpsuit with bikini style top as she whips her brunette locks while striking a pose.
In an accompanying interview Rihanna discussed another kind of predator: 'I try my best to avoid the sharks of life, but I have had my share of experiences with them, and in those cases I just have to handle them accordingly. But I do not swim with sharks … sharks swim with sharks.'
She also named some of her favourite designers: 'My favorite red-carpet looks are usually the ones I get to help design: the Adam Selman Swarovski crystal dress at the CFDAs, the Stella McCartney all-white dress at the Met Gala, and the Adam Selman white jersey dress from the VMAs. But the red Azzedine Alaïa at the Grammys is also one of my favorites.'

On Friday the Grammy Award winner released a behind-the-scenes look at her music video - shot in color - that included her alongside collaborators Kanye, 37, and Paul, 72.
'This is the first song that my fans are going to hear from the new album and the first visual they see,' she explained in the clip.
FourFiveSeconds is the lead single off Rihanna's eighth studio album, Home - a concept project inspired by the forthcoming animated film Home.
The songbird lends her voice to a character in the movie, along with Jim Parsons, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez. Home will be released in theaters on March 27.
