A former pastor, Yohandry Bravo who has been on the run for two years after he was charged for raping a 16-yr-old girl has been arrested by the police.
All Christian News reports that in 2013, Bravo was charged with raping a 16-year-old girl in his own home, since then he has been on the run from authorities but was recently incarcerated after being caught at a routine traffic check.
The traffic check took place in Atlanta, GA, where he was also taken into the custody of local police and held while they sorted through his criminal record.
They kept him after seeing three warrants for his arrest due to aggravated child molestation and rape.
Bravo had remained at large since January of 2013. He was booked in a Clayton County facility around noon on Tuesday.
According to police, he has not obtained any additional charges. Bibb County police were contacted, where he was later transported.
The suspect allegedly raped the victim after her family moved into his home.
According to members of his congregation, he asked certain families to move into his house after the death of his 15-yr-old son, Jose who was was killed in a car accident which took place in November of 2012.
According to the Facebook page that Bravo shares with his wife, Jacqueline, he had pastured at the church for 17 years.
The congregation numbered at around 200. Mostly listed on the Facebook page are Bible verses and inspirational quotes about remaining faithful to their religion.
Viewers of The Augusta Chronicle commented on Bravo’s capture, saying, “Now that you have him, please keep him for life. How disgusting.”
Another comment said, “True that, some judge will probably give him time served, and a few years probation. I hope not in a case like this.”
Despite being featured on Crime Stoppers, Bravo was able to evade arrest for two years following the charges pressed against him. Court dates have not yet been established.
