Reggae legend, Majek Fashek, who has been missing on stage for many years now due to deteriorating health resulting from drug addiction, returned on stage Wednesday, performing alongside pop star, 2face, in a bid to re-launch his dwindling musical career.
Majek was one of the top stars that performed at the 5th anniversary of Copyright Society of Nigeria, COSON, which held at Airport hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The reggae star was not only excited returning on stage, he was indeed everything that his fans have missed in the past years.
Performing his evergreen song, Send down the rain, the reggae star dragged African Queen crooner, 2face, who joined him on stage. It was a blend of old and young artistes on stage.
The night show kicked off at about 7:20 pm with breathtaking performance from Energy Band which rendered different genres of Nigerian music. When they performed 2face’s African Queen, the audience went wild with excitement. The second segment of the event was the recitation of the achievement of COSON since its approval as the nation’s sole collective management organization for musical works and sound recording in 2010.
The high point of the night was the entering of the names of several distinguished Nigerians into the COSON roll of honour and the decoration of the NBC DG, Mr. Emeka Mba with the Copyright Medal of Honour. Among the distinguished Nigerians whose names were entered into the COSON roll of honour included superstar, 2face Idibia, Sunny Nneji, KSB, Patrick Doyle, Mac Emakpore, Prof Egerton Uvieghara, Chris Ajilo, among others.
