Pregnant woman killed by OPC laid to rest

Damilola Fajana

It was a moment of tears and anguish as the remains of Damilola Fajana, the seven-month-old pregnant woman killed by a stray bullet in a cross fire between members of the Oodua People's Congress (OPC), and suspected pipeline vandals in the Arepo area of Ogun State, was committed to mother earth at a cemetery in Lagos on Saturday, May 9, 2015.

The 25-year-old lawyer who got married just last year, was killed on her way back to her residence at the Beachland Estate when she was caught in the cross fire on April.
At the burial ground, family, friends, colleagues and residents of Arepo community all gathered to pay her their last respect, with all lamenting her sudden demise few days before she was supposed to travel to the United States to deliver her baby.
Her father, Babafemi Ojo has continued to blame President Goodluck Jonathan for the murder of his daughter and has vowed never to rest until justice is seen to be done. The ground on his insistence is that if the President had not engaged the untrained OPC members to guard the nation's pipelines, his daughter would not have been killed.
