A hug from the First Lady: Michelle Obama delights pupils at east London girls' school -

The U.S. First Lady was greeted with an embrace (centre and right) as she met with pupils at Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets, east London, this morning. The visit is part of efforts to highlight her campaign to make girls' education 'an urgent economic issue' during her two-day trip to the UK.
Schoolgirls performed a gymnastic routine and handed her of bouquet of flowers on her arrival (left). This morning Mrs Obama, her daughters Sasha and Malia, and her mother Marian Robinson, enjoyed tea with Prince Harry at Kensington Palace - with a photograph expected to be released this afternoon. After visiting the school she will meet with David Cameron in Downing Street to appeal to the Prime Minister as a parent to help girls around the world to attend school. Mrs Obama wants to use the visit to discuss joint work between Britain and America to boost education for adolescent girls across the world through the Let Girls Learn initiative, championed by her and her husband, US president Barack Obama.
