The Formula One ace - who previously dated Nicole Scherzinger - has been romantically linked with the 19-year-old model in recent weeks and while they both have misgivings about their new relationship, the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star's mother and manager, Kris Jenner, is thrilled.
A source said: 'I think Lewis is worried he isn't 'cool' enough for Kendall and she's concerned his career may overshadow her modelling.
'But Kris is over the moon. She thinks Lewis is the kind of man Kendall needs. She's practically jumping up and down.'
Lewis, 30, and Kendall first met at a Balmain party during Paris Fashion Week in March and the brunette beauty was left 'mortified' by her mother's matchmaking.

A source told heat magazine: 'Lewis clearly fancied Kendall but she seemed more interested in hanging out with her friends.
'But Kris was also at the party and was all over Lewis. She practically pushed Kendall into his arms. She gave Lewis Kendall's number and told him to call her and ask her on a date. Kendall was mortified.
'Everyone saw her mouthing, 'Mom stop' at Kris. But it didn't put Lewis off - he was in contact with Kendall all the time after that.'
Though the pair met up again for dinner at Lewis' house, their relationship didn't take off until recently, with the sportsman even enjoying a few dates with Kendall's pal Gigi Hadid.

While Lewis has since sparked rumours of a romance with Kendall, his ex-girlfriend Nicole is using the break-up to better herself.
Talking about the reasons for going their separate ways, Nicole hinted that she and Lewis had become 'complacent'.
She explained: 'Sometimes people stay in relationships because they get complacent, because it's comfortable for them, because they don't want to be alone.
'It's a new chapter in my life. I'm going through a very transformative time in my life.'
She added to that she is now focusing on finding the real meaning to her life - but suggested that the door is always open for a reconciliation.
