Rooney closes on Bobby Charlton’s all-time England scoring record

Wayne Rooney scored the winner for England, as they came from behind to defeat Slovenia 3-2 in Ljubljana on Sunday evening.
His late goal means that he is now the joint-second top scorer in England’s history with Gary Lineker on 48 goals.
The pair are just one strike behind Bobby Charlton’s 49-goal record and Rooney has been tipped to go on and break it when next the Three Lions play.
England will face Group E minnows San Marino on September 5 and Rooney will need to score twice to become the new record holder.
Charlton needed 106 appearances to reach his record and incidentally, the game against San Marino will be Rooney’s 106th for England.
