A 24-year-old marketing student, Samuel Price, has been convicted of assault after he bit his girlfriend's buttocks during a sexual encounter.
Price had denied the assault charge, claiming that what transpired between him and his 20-year-old lover, Elizabeth Sandlin, was with consent.
He was however found guilty, ordered to pay Sandlin £200 compensation and a total costs bill of £850.
He was also placed on a 12-month community order.
The court heard that Price and Sandlin had known each other for 18 months and had an intimate on-off relationship.

Prosecutor, Rhian Jackson, said the duo got on well and the complainant willingly followed him home and consented to sexual activity with him.
"They went to the bedroom and she was happy for sexual activity to happen and lay down on the bed," Jackson said.
Price then started to bite her and pull her hair, refusing to stop when she asked him to.
She also claimed that she did not leave because she felt he might have gotten angry.
Even when she wanted to sleep, he continued to bite her and she had to wrap herself in a bed cover and watched a film on his laptop.
When he slept, she left his home and reported to the police.
"She says she wants him to know that he has done wrong. He certainly does," Jackson said.
But Price claimed through his lawyer, Damian Sabino, that their relationship was based on sex.
"Rough and playful sex was part of their relationship," Sabino said.
He claimed that they both bit each other.
Both of them had bite marks on their bodies, and even thought hers were worse, there was no blood and none needed treatment.
Sandlin also claimed that her trust in men had been damaged by the experience.
