Sterling Bank Launches ‘New Sterling Plus’

As part of its contribution to boost financial inclusion and encourage savings in the country, Sterling Bank Plc has introduced a new proposition called ‘New Sterling Plus’.
New Sterling Plus, according to the Executive Director of the bank, Suleiman Abubakar, is a solution for individuals who are interested in enjoying the benefits of current and savings account offers, without the associated cost of running a current account.
At a press briefing in Lagos, Abubakar disclosed that the new product, customers are entitled to free cheque books, free debit cards and free alerts, which include sms and e-mails on their transactions,” The Executive Director said the product was developed after an extensive market research, adding that “the needs of our existing and potential customers led to the development of this proposition which provides offerings suited for the banking needs of the generality of the Nigerian population.”

He also said the new product is part of the bank’s contribution to boost financial inclusion and to encourage savings in the country, just as he added that the choice of gifts for customers, especially the free smartphones was in consideration of the increasing demand and use of mobile platforms in the Nigerian market.
Also speaking, Head, Consumer Banking Unit, Sterling Bank, Gbenga Adegoke, explained that the newly launched product also comes with a cash reward scheme. “Every week, 20 people would win N50,000 each, 10 people would win N100,000 monthly, two people to win N500,000 quarterly and one lucky individual to win N1 million on new special holidays (as declared by the federal government).
Adegoke explained that with applications such as Sterling Mobile Banking, Solo Music, Solo Movies, and the Billionaire Club, pre-installed on it, customers are assured of having an exciting experience while fulfilling their banking, entertainment and financial literacy needs. “New Sterling Plus which can be assessed at any Sterling Bank branches can be opened with a minimum of balance of N5,000,” he added.
