Terrier becomes a cycling star after learning to ride downhill on child's tricycle

Some dogs get their thrills by chasing and fetching a ball, but there's nothing Barry the Bedlington terrier enjoys more than a bicycle ride in the countryside. The three-year-old pet started by playing on skateboards and enjoyed being pushed by owners Wayne Sowerby and Kate Hayllar, from Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria.

He then spotted the tricycle and sat on that instead and before long the adventure-seeking dog was riding that too. Barry hasn't yet learnt to pedal himself, but that's probably his next challenge. 'He doesn't cycle on the trike but he keeps his position and balance and enjoys rolling down hills and along paths,' said Mr Sowerby (pictured right with Ms Hayllar and Barry).
