The singer has revealed that an overwhelming desire for her 20-month daughter to see her perform on stage was the main driving force behind her return to music.
Speaking on Saturday, she told ITV's Weekend show that Azura even inspired one of the songs on her new album.

The R&B singer, who also landed prominent judging roles on Strictly Come Dancing and Britain's Got Talent, said: 'My daughter was such a big motivating force. ‘I looked at this precious baby baby and the thought of her not seeing me on stage was upsetting me.
'I wanted her to see what her mummy loves to do. She has driven me and I’ve written a song for her on the album.
'It was such an emotional process writing a song for her. Those moments in a dark dungeon when you feel you are really at one with the music are so special.'

Alesha, who had Azura with her partner Azuka Ononye, told the show's host Aled Jones that she believes motherhood had changed her as an artist as it gave her more to write about.
'She has opened up my heart in an even bigger way,' she said. 'It has inspired writing mainly because I feel I have more to write about. It’s flowing. She is so lucky. I just hope she grows up grateful.'
