Blatter's downfall: FIFA chief is finally banned from football for eight years along with right-hand man Michel Platini after corruption scandal

Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini BANNED by FIFA from all football activities

Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini have been banned from all football activities for eight years and fined by the FIFA adjudicatory ethics chamber. The decision, revealed in Zurich on Monday, brings a definitive end to Blatter and Platini's control of the sport with both unable to run for FIFA presidency on February 26. The bans have been imposed by FIFA's ethics committee judge Hans-Joachim Eckert for a 'disloyal payment' of £1.35million (2million Swiss francs) to Platini, signed off by Blatter in 2011.

FIFA statement says Blatter found himself in situation of conflict of interest after payment in 2011

Blatter and Platini were found in breach of 'offering and accepting gifts and other benefits'

Outgoing FIFA president Blatter has been fined £33,700, with UEFA president Platini fined £53,940
