Jeff Bezos wins the billionaire space race: Amazon founder announces that he and his brother will fly to the edge of space next MONTH on a Blue Origin spacecraft, beating rivals Richard Branson and Elon Musk to the punch
Outgoing Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has announced that that he and his brother Mark will fly on New Shepard, a Blue Origin spacecraft, when it blasts off on July 20. Jeff, who founded Blue Origin in 2000, can be seen inviting his brother on the flight in a video posted to Instagram (inset). The two will fly with the winner of an auction, who will have bid at least $2.8 million for their seat. The flight will mark a huge milestone in the mission to send paying customers to the edge of space - an industry known as 'space tourism'. Other leading rivals in the industry are SpaceX (led by Elon Musk, bottom right) and Virgin Galactic (led by Richard Branson, top right).
