The spate of attacks, killing, raping and abduction by Fulani herdsmen, is spreading fast around the country as they have struck Umuachi-Afor, a community in Delta State.
The
state Police Command report that the herdsmen storm the community in
Ndokwa-East local government area and abducted some women and children,
before killing an 18-year-old boy whose name was given as Ossai Oluem,
because he resisted their attempts to kidnap him.
At the end of the day, the mindless assailants escaped into the bush with two women and three they had abducted.
In
a statement by the Delta State Police Public Relations Office, the
police have been able to secure the release of the abducted victims
The
police said the incident occurred on Sunday after the herdsmen the
community, shooting sporadically, leaving people scampering for their
lives.
The statement said preliminary police investigation showed that the Fulani herdsmen had abducted their victims after one Frank Odili from the community had seized a rifle from a Fulani herdsman.
It said the Fulani had insisted on only freeing their hostages if the firearm was returned to them.
