Beanie Sigel was shot outside of his Pleasantville, New Jersey home, NBC 10 Philadelphia reports.
According to Perri Jr., Grant was returning from dropping his children off to school when he noticed a fight happening in front of his home.
“From the first appearance, it would appear that there was some sort of altercation next to that property,” Pleasantville Police Chief Jose Ruiz said.
“The whole thing is a tragedy,” a cousin of Grant’s wife said. “It’s just very sad and I just ask that everybody keep our family in prayer and that he pulls through.”
The 40-year-old rapper was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
Another man, 22-year-old Umar Salahuddin, was also found to be injured when investigators arrived to the scene, but he reportedly refused treatment. Police say that he had not been shot. Authorities also say that he was not cooperative during questioning.
A gray car riddled with bullet holes was discovered by officers two blocks away from the crime scene. A gray Honda was also pursued by officers. One man got away on foot, another was apprehended by police.
According to ABC, Grant is awake and will be interviewed by investigators about the incident. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the rapper has been seriously wounded. He was also shot in the arm in 2006.
