Leave it to the experts, Philip, you're 94 today! Prince practises with a kukri knife as Queen leads moving tributes to Gurkhas at pageant to mark 200 years of service to the British Crown

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh have joined other senior royals at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London for a pageant to celebrate 200 years of Gurkhas serving in the British military this evening. Prince Philip, who turns 94 tomorrow, was pictured practising with a Kukri knife (right) - a traditional Gurkha weapon - as he and the Queen were shown some Gurkha artefacts. There were also battle re-enactments in the courtyard (bottom right) as well as music and dance featuring Gurkhas and their wives. Prince Harry - who revealed to guests he wanted to join the Gurkhas - and Prince Charles,
Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Gurkha Rifles , were also in attendance as the Queen led the moving celebrations. Senior royals and military veterans alike also bowed their heads in memory of those who died in the Nepalese earthquake. Hundreds of serving Gurkhas and veterans are attending the event, which will chronicle 200 years of Gurkha service with the 'story of the Gurkha soldier' narrated by actress and campaigner Joanna Lumley and historian Dan Snow.
